Why I Switched From WordPress to Kajabi

kajabi

I started my web design studio in 2010 and chose wordpress.org as my website-building platform because it seemed like a relatively quick way to begin and it was also free to use by anyone. And as a newly self-employed person, minimizing costs was important!

With its massive directory of 60K+ free plugins and countless premium ones, you can use WordPress for all kinds of needs such as a simple personal blog or even turn it into a complex website for an enterprise-level company. The sky is the limit on what you can build with WordPress. Sounds fantastic, right?! Well….

The trade-off for this high level of customization was that the learning curve was a steep technical one. This was something I really struggled with as a creative although I did tried very hard for a long time (10 years to be exact!) to get good at it.

One thing I noticed was that the somewhat outdated-looking interface design of WordPress didn’t feel intuitive or user-friendly. Back in those days, the only way to get support was by reading through volunteer-based documentation and forums. Trying to troubleshoot issues required a lot of research and trial-and-error which ended up time-consuming and frustrating. WordPress also needed constant platform and plugin updates which filled me with dread each time because I would worry that my site will break without any quick and easy access to getting help. Overall, the experience of using WordPress sadly didn’t feel easy or enjoyable.

As time went by, I became clearer on the niche I wanted to serve - heart-centered female coaches, consultants and online educators - and I had a desire to serve them on a deeper level. I wanted to help them build a website that not only brings in leads and sales consistently but also delivers their digital products, especially online courses, in a seamless manner.

I then spent months poring through tech reviews and testing other platforms including Squarespace, Showit, Kartra, Podio, MemberVault, Ontraport, ClickFunnels, ConvertKit, Active Campaign, Teachable, Thinkific and many more.

Kajabi was a platform I was already aware of many years ago due to enquiries from clients. Unfortunately I was quick to dismiss Kajabi then because I just couldn’t fathom paying so much for it and insisted on sticking with WordPress. (As you can tell, I wasn’t ready for it yet!)

Now years later with a deeper understanding of how an online business works for a digital product creator, I explored Kajabi again with fresh new eyes and FINALLY appreciated its value. This time round, there are so many things I loooove about it.

1. ROBUST ALL-IN-ONE PLATFORM

With Kajabi, you have everything you need to market, sell and deliver your online courses without having to stitch up multiple different platforms together. Kajabi offers a website builder, sales funnels, email marketing, membership portals, marketing automations and more all in one place, making it incredibly cost-efficient and convenient.

To me, the amount of time and energy you saved from having to figure out and maintain tech integration issues is worth the price of the monthly subscription alone. With Kajabi, you can streamline your online business and bid goodbye to pesky tech integration headaches!

Kajabi’s features are highly robust like WordPress but the big difference is that I’ve found Kajabi’s clean and modern interface design to be so much more intuitive and easier to use. Hands-down, a winning combination for me as a fussy web designer!

2. SUPERB CUSTOMER SUPPORT & TRAINING
Another great perk of Kajabi is that you can get access to its 24/7 customer support chat for Growth and Pro plans. I prefer to email them instead and usually get a prompt reply within 12-24 hours. I’ve been pleased with their service and will continue to reply on them whenever something crops up.

Kajabi also has a comprehensive library of courses, videos and articles that come in handy whether you need quick answers for a simple question or a training that’s more advanced and in-depth.

3. VIBRANT & INSPIRING COMMUNITY
I’m a huge fan of the vibrant Official Kajabi Hero Community on Facebook. Not only is it a valuable source of information, you can also read about insightful stories and advice from online business owners who have successfully earned six or seven figures using Kajabi. These have been tremendously inspiring and a reassuring sign that I’m on the right track.

You really can't go wrong when big names in the online coaching industry like Amy Porterfield, James Wedmore, Brendon Burchard and many more have all proudly endorsed Kajabi.

4. GROWTH & INNOVATION POTENTIAL
Although there have been other similar competitors sprouting up in the market such as New Zenler and GrooveFunnels, Kajabi stands out in a class of its own. Founded in 2010 by Kenny Rueter, it has grown from a humble startup to a mature and stable company deeply committed to helping people create a successful business online.

In recent years, Kajabi has managed to raise a whooping total of $550M in funding from investors. It seems poised for more growth and innovation in the near future as can be seen in its acquisition of Vibely, an up-and-coming community platform and its increasing adoption of AI. Despite these new exciting developments, I’m happy to report that the subscription fees for Kajabi have remained the same at this time of writing.

5. AESTHETICALLY PLEASING & EFFECTIVE WEBSITES
Last but not least, contrary to what many people say about its website builder being too limited, I’ve found it capable enough of creating polished and beautiful websites on par with the ones from Squarespace and Showit. In 2021, I started testing Kajabi’s website builder using several trial accounts and in Aug 2022, I signed up for a Growth Plan and finally made the switch from WordPress to Kajabi official.

I’ve not turned back ever since and honestly, this has been an investment I was eager and happy to make! To sum up, I truly believe that Kajabi is the best platform for business owners selling online courses and memberships and stand by it wholeheartedly. With Kajabi, growing a successful online business can be easier than you think.
